so far today

Can you see how fresh the plants at the entrance to our block of flats look?

Can you see how grey and dark the morning is?

Yeap! We got rain! Lots of it. It started last night and kept raining until about midday today.
So refreshing!

What can a woman do when it's all fresh and cool outside?
Well, have coffee at the balcony, of course, enjoying some 'hooky' time.
Bliss!

And what can a mommy feed her little man, other than  warm, thick bean soup, loaded with
chopped veggies?
(have you spotted the sun-dried tomatoes my dad's made and the yellow carrot?)

Yesterday turned out to be a good day, after all. I suddenly felt on top of things after having shared my miseries here and managed to do quite a lot of housework.
And now, my son's waiting for me in his room to de-clutter his book cupboards.
We need to make space for his school books.

Have a good day!

the sky

I took these pictures with my phone on Saturday evening.
The clouds had this strange looking wave effect - very impressive ( this photo doesn't really do the whole thing justice)
While the rest of the family were still in the water, I had some time, once again, to admire the grandeur of nature. Such beauty!

Lisa, expect some love in your mailbox soon. Congratulations!

on the road

hello there!
how are you all doing?
hope your weekend is off to a good start!
i'm typing this at my desk back home (in the city, that is).
i seem to be on the road a lot lately;
packing suitcases has never been something i enjoy, but starting from the beginning of the month when my dad and my hubby left the village after their visit, that's all i seem to be doing.
this is the second (long) weekend in a row that i've come here to vote;
in between i went back to my new home for three days to work (hubby came along) and i'll be going back there on monday - for good this time.
phew!!! are you still here?
and as if all this travelling wasn't enough, we visited my in-laws last sunday
and i'm going to my (dad's) village tomorrow for a short memorial service at my mum's grave.

if you haven't been reading this blog for a while, you're probably lost in all the different places.

but bear with me, there's a reason for these rumblings.

the thing is, as i was telling my dearest friend earlier, that this doesn't feel much like home. there are all these people we need to see and shopping to be done and errands to be run, so that i can't do all the 'homey' things i usually do at the weekends; plus, most of my personal belongings are not here. hubby usually works late to make up for the work he can't do on the computer when he's away and i really, desperately need to stay at home.

i don't want to check my schedule to see if i can squeeze in some saturday afternoon baking; i just want to take my apron out the drawer and get lost somewhere between the flour and the sugar.

my next visit here will be for the christmas holidays;

until then, hubby will be doing all the travelling - not very often though, due to work commitments.

on a more optimistic note,
there are a lot of pleasant things on my to-do list when i'm back at my basis:
catching up with e-mails, making presents, sending mail- lots of it (love it!), sewing, crocheting, making christmas crafts with little one...
and books, books, books...
these will keep me busy for quite a while
~~~~~~~
i took these photos yesterday:
~ hubby was sweet enough to stop on our way home so that i could capture this divine sky
~need i really say anything about the second picture?
~ these two fellows posed for me not once but twice yesterday
~~~~~~~
as for the interviews, you'll be hearing from me soon; i think i've got this figured out.
~~~~~~
have a great weekend everyone!
take care!
it's the same sky, yet......
have you ever felt like looking at the sky, just in case your loved one is looking at the sky, too, miles and miles away?
it's raining tonight; the heating is on but it's still cold inside ... no, not in the flat... deep inside
(first three pictures: at my new neighbourhood,
fourth: at my village,
last one : at home)
words
~ in the car, on our way home ~
mum: baby, look at the sun! aren't the colours of the sunset amazing?
son: wow mum! stop, stop! let's take a picture!
mum: I can't stop here but by the time we get home, the moon will be out and we can take a photo of that from our balcony.
son: good!
have a wonderful week!
turbulence
what can you do when the priceless peace and quiet
you struggle to have in your life and at your home
is threatened by something you're not responsible for
yet can hardly avoid?
~
what can you do when you were told never to show your face at a place again
- through no fault of your own let me tell you, other than being married to
and having a good relationship with a certain man -
and then being treated as if nothing had happened?
~
are you supposed to forget everything
and risk a possible attack out of the blue
-sometimes I feel a simple 'hello' could be misunderstood -
in order to keep the tranquillity you have worked so hard for?
~
are you supposed to put up with everything
and count the days and hours before you leave
and find shelter in your own family
(nuclear and extended)?
~~~~~~
~~~~~~
Cassie, my son's little hand picked your name for a little surprise in the mail.
harmony and tranquillity in shades of blue and purple
(first of all, please excuse the poor quality of the photos; my camera is in Austria with hubby and I'm using my mobile)
~~~~~~

As I was folding the laundry today, I noticed a harmony in the colours.
This made me feel peaceful for some reason.
I got my mobile and 'click', captured the moment.

Later, when little one invited me to his 'fortress', I saw the same colours. "How serene!", I thought. 'Click'

Just as the sun was setting, I looked out the window. There it was; the same colour scheme. 'Click'

"Is there some kind of a hidden message here?", I wondered.

"Ok, then! I'll play along. Let's read this book tonight!" "Click'

After putting little one to bed, I went to my bedroom....where...

a magazine with a purple-ish cover lay on my blue bedspread!
I didn't expect that! 'Click'

Then I remembered what was under the bedspread! 'Click'

I couldn't wait till tomorrow to share the broad smile on my face.
I had to show you now.
So now that I have, I'm going to have a shower, put my pjs on and go to bed happy and peaceful.
I only wish I had my camera today.

Take Care!

stormy afternoons

I haven't posted a photo of our sky for ages
and this cloud was definitely not to be missed!

After a while....

Lately, we've had the following pattern:
hot mornings, stormy afternoons, pleasantly cool evenings~
I love it!

silence

The pause - that impressive silence, that eloquent silence, that geometrically progressive silence which often achieves a desired effect where no combination of words, howsoever felicitous, could accomplish it.
- Mark Twain
~~~~~
I took this picture last Thursday,
just after I woke up to get ready for work.
My boys were still asleep and I stood there,
taking the moment in.
Isn't the colour of the sky divine?
Now, it's after 11:00 p.m.
and our place is silent again.
Precious silence.
I'm content; I'm grateful.
