lately...

...it's all about flowers
and a lot of work.

Happy Spring!

after the rain comes the sunshine

 and vice versa??

Last week was a hard one.
Things at home were very tense,
with my son spending long hours doing nothing much
and his homework taking up all day long.
I ran out of patience so often I'm ashamed to admit
and the whole thing left me drained and miserable.

Then on Saturday we all went to the city centre
and had a great time
-hubby treated me to this beautiful little bunch-
and when we got home in the evening,
I was down with a kind of flu that made my whole body ache
and I didn't feel better until yesterday morning!

So Monday has come again, with the same slow pace of achieving things,
a long, quiet and civil discussion
and, well, we'll see.

Have a lovely Tuesday!

It is a truth universally acknowledged...

...that, if you only have two hands,
you can't read and crochet at the same time!

And when you would much rather read than crochet,
you can't expect to finish a blanket in a year - or two!

But when you decide you have to finish it soon,
otherwise it would be  a joke
- 'nice blanket!' 'oh, thanks! it was a fast project really! It only took five years to make!'-
you scratch your head, think hard and bingo!, technology is the answer.

So with the audio book of Pride and Prejudice in the cd/usb player
and hook and yarn in my hands,
I can still hope that I'll manage to finish my son's blanket
in time for his birthday next month!

Wish me luck!

Monday morning

It's a bright sunny morning this one.
Just as Monday mornings  should be.
You know, to set the week off on a good start.

It was an easy-going weekend, too.
Coffee with a good friend at the cosiest cafe at the city centre.
I brought a lovely bunch of sunshine at home. Love!
A slow pace at home.
Sunday morning service at church. We need to do this more often.
Some ironing in the evening, without moaning about it -dare I say it was enjoyable? Too far-fetched!
A pleasant film.
A wonderful book (more on this, on another day)

Have a great week!

back where I belong

Sometimes in life you may think you need a change. You may feel you got tired of what you have and seek to find excitement in something new. You want a new adventure; to explore new paths. You set out on your journey only to realise that what you really needed was the comfort and warmth of the familiar.

You know, when you buy a new outfit for work and you're all excited about it, feeling more sophisticated and important when you wear it, about to conquer the world... But when you get back home you can't wait to put on your cotton jammies and unwind. Because this is really who you are.

Lately, I've been longing to do something new, to be someplace new... I sometimes feel there are chains holding me back and I can't break free. I can't quite explain it. The truth is, I don't really want any big changes in my life. And the funny thing is, at the end of the day, there's nothing more comforting than knowing that my family are all safe under one roof and that I can always grab a book or my crochet when everyone else is fast asleep and really feel like...well, home. And that is fulfilling. And soothing. And reassuring.

I guess I'm not much of an explorer in any other way  than in such circumstances where I know there's always a nest to go back to - physically, mentally and most of all emotionally.

I don't know if this makes any sense to you, but here I am, back in my comfort zone, with my love of the simple things, in a space I (and some of you) know well.

So coffee and cake it is. And shells and showers in the summer, bells through the school year and flowers all year round.

See you soon.

Take Care!
