Waiting for the fish to bite or waiting for wind to fly a kite. Or waiting around for Friday night or waiting perhaps for their Uncle Jake or a pot to boil or a better break or a string of pearls or a pair of pants or a wig with curls or another chance. Everyone is just waiting.
~Dr. Seuss

Why always "not yet"? Do flowers in spring say "not yet"?

a break

"The child must know that he is a miracle,
that since the beginning of the world there hasn't been,
and until the end of the world there will not be,
another child like him."
Pablo Casals

In times of tension, I need to remember this.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm taking a break from blogging for a while.
Life's been calling my name much too often lately
and there are so many new things I need to tackle.
I may drop by your places every now and then when time allows.
note to self
Instead of counting your days, make your days count.
a sneak peek...
1. ... of what I've been crocheting lately
(the colour is, in fact, darker - lavender blue)
΅΅΅΅΅΅
2. ...we've only had a sneak peek of spring so far.
I've found this quote, which describes our weather perfectly well:
It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade.
~Charles Dickens
Was it really the first day of spring yesterday? I had to double-check the calendar!
Anyway, happy spring (or happy autumn) everyone!
I'll talk to you next week - I've decided not to take my laptop with me (remember? we're going home on Thursday! Yay!!!)
Take Care!
My childhood may be over, but that doesn't mean playtime is. ~Ron Olson
PS. This post is scheduled. It's my son's name day today and we're at our village(s) to celebrate it with friends and family.
We'll be back tomorrow. (maybe!)
weekend part 2: at grandpa's
The 3rd and 5th photos are at my in-laws';
the rest are at my dad's.
We made a fortress with mud and stones but I forgot to take a picture.
I made sure we had 'building equipment' with us, wherever we went!
~~~~~~
Can you tell how much my dad loves fruit trees?
And we are so grateful for that:
fresh fruit + something to keep his body and mind busy.

silence

The pause - that impressive silence, that eloquent silence, that geometrically progressive silence which often achieves a desired effect where no combination of words, howsoever felicitous, could accomplish it.
- Mark Twain
~~~~~
I took this picture last Thursday,
just after I woke up to get ready for work.
My boys were still asleep and I stood there,
taking the moment in.
Isn't the colour of the sky divine?
Now, it's after 11:00 p.m.
and our place is silent again.
Precious silence.
I'm content; I'm grateful.
~~learning~~
The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you.
- B.B. King
An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.
- Benjamin Franklin
You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives.
- Clay P. Bedford
A teacher who is attempting to teach without inspiring the pupil with a desire to learn is hammering on a cold iron.
- Horace Mann
~~~~~

What can I say about learning, really?

I think I'd feel like my heart had stopped beating if I lost my urge to learn!

I enjoyed thinking of words that inspire me,

only I had great difficulty in choosing just five.

~~~~~
Have you visited Sarah, Claudia, Lynne and Lucy this week?
They have their own beautiful words to share.
Inspiring Words 3
~~ creativity ~~
~~
The world is but a canvas to the imagination.
Henry David Thoreau
~~~~~
All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.
Pablo Picasso

~~~~~
“The principle goal of education is to create men who are capable of doing new things, not simply of repeating what other generations have done - men who are creative, inventive and discoverers”
Jean Piaget
~~~~~
I love the last quote. If we could only succeed in this...

I have no words for 'creativity', really;

I just can't imagine life without it!

There's one thing I can tell you, though;

I wish I were more creative with words!

Inspiring Words 1

~~ serenity~~
~~

The Serenity Prayer
God, give us grace to accept with serenity
the things that cannot be changed,
Courage to change the things
which should be changed,
and the Wisdom to distinguish
the one from the other.
Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,
Taking, as Jesus did,
This sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it,
Trusting that You will make all things right,
If I surrender to Your will,
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with You forever in the next.
Amen.
By: Reinhold Niebuhr

Peace is not a relationship of nations. It is a condition of mind brought about by a serenity of soul. Peace is not merely the absence of war. It is also a state of mind. Lasting peace can come only to peaceful people.
Jawaharlal Nehru

What I dream of is an art of balance, of purity and serenity devoid of troubling or depressing subject matter - a soothing, calming influence on the mind, rather like a good armchair which provides relaxation from physical fatigue.
Henri Matisse

~~~~~
I have always admired and envied serene people.
I seek serenity and calmness;
I make conscious efforts to bring peacefulness to my life.
I often fail,
but I don't give up.
You're full of flaws, but I love you!
As machines become more and more efficient and perfect, so it will become clear that imperfection is the greatness of man.
