What do you do when you're on the verge of insanity?
No!
That's not a rhetorical question;
I do want an answer!
Here's what I've found particularly soothing:
a cup of hot chocolate... a good book (or two)...
(I'll show you the end product when they're ready)
learning how to crochet
(this could actually make things worse if I allowed myself to be discouraged - but I haven't- and
Yes! Feel free to laugh all you want; I know there are so many mistakes!
So glad if I made you smile! You're welcome!)
watching my favourite film
and dreaming
I could own a little shop like that
one day...
I must admit
all these cosy, homey, seamingly trivial things
have brightened my days.
The last days of November were stress-loaded.
December is a very comforting month, though.
Thank you all for stopping by. I do appreciate each and every one of you and am excited to get to know you little by little through your blogs and e-mails.
HAVE A WONDERFUL, BLESSED NATIVITY MONTH!

OOh yes - all of those things are soooo comforting. Well done with your crochet - it really can become quite addictive!
I do feel like I joined you for a "cuppa" & caught up on all you've been so busy w/. Kudos for learning to crochet/something new! I'm guessing your little elf has been faithfully by your side helping you w/ your Christmas crafts :)
Yiota, I love this list and truly, all very comforting, homey, cozy and relaxing...so soothing!! I love that you are learning to crochet! Something I do not know how to do and I think you are amazing for giving it a go. You won't learn how to do it "right" until you've learned from the mistakes...that's true of everything in life!! ♥
If we didn't make mistakes we wouldn't make progress. Learned that in quilting. Lovely thoughts for the day, and I've got to get working on my mess of a desk with homemade ornaments in the making!

You know I keep meaning to learn to crochet...one of these days!
Thanks for the cup of hot chocolate...mmmmhhhh...
Your favorite movie "You've Got Mail' is a remake of the 1940 film "The Shop Around the Corner' starring James Stewart and Margaret Sullavan...I just ordered it from Amazon and will be watching it around Christmas time! You should, too! :)
Big Hug....
when on the verge of insanity.... i stop, breathe, say a prayer and hug my loved ones.
I like your Christmas ornaments, they look good enough to eat. December is such a good month for crafty things. I love December too.

Ahh, I was wondering what the film was, thanks country girl!
Lovely cosy post, could just go a cup of hot chocolate right now, but need to drag myself off out into the cold rainy night for a rehearsal...
That is one of my very favorite movies.
Such a beautiful way to start December!

Wonderful, cozy post :) And congrats on learning to crochet! You've made a great start. The only way to get those stitches feeling like they belong in your hands is to practice, and I find it inspiring that you're doing just that. (Actually, your beginning swatches look pretty good, especially when I remember back to my own.)
Can't wait to see the finished ornaments!
gosh, you're very resourceful when you're on the verge of insanity! Personally, I just go insane for a bit until I feel better!
country mouse xx
Escaping with a book I love is my favourite way to keep my sanity. So please come and open your little shop near me!
I go for a run. Or I make a "to-do" list of things I have already accomplished for the day/week and mark them all off! I find it's terribly therapeutic! Then, I add a very manageable 2 or 3 to focus on for the remainder of the day/week.
OR.... I buy a magazine and flip through with a cup of hot cinnamon tea. Better Homes and Gardens, Southern Living, Coastal Living, Real Simple, Saveur, Food and Wine... any of these will do the job!
Such comforting things, Yiota ! I love the movie, too :)
Have a beautiful and blessed December !!!
xoxoxoxo
I can't wait to see your finished christmas ornaments and I am curious to know how you made them. Your crochet looks fabulous, well done you for learning! And you are watching my all time FAVorite movie! I dream of owning the shop too...it was just so lovely.
Hi, Yiota! Now especially is a good time to slow down when we can and just enjoy, as the days can be all too hectic. Lovely post...thank you! :o)
Life certainly has been hectic lately! You've listed a lot of great things to do to unwind. (I love that movie, too!)
Spending time with family, especially little ones, can be very relaxing for me. A book or some time out in Nature are some of my favorites.
I enjoyed your post. Thank you!
I think you have found some good ways to help alleviate stress. I love the colors of your crochet project. When I feel stressed I find that simple, ordinary things bring the most comfort.
Hi Yiota,
Hope the insanity has passed. Is it school based? I know mine is! Tea, books, films and cats, oh-and arty stuff-all good! Hope you have a good weekend.
I, too, love Kathleen Kelly and her marvelous shop. We actually have a children's book store in Kansas City called The Reading Reptile. Believe it or not, it's even better than Kathleen Kelly's store.
As to what I do when I am feeling insane or even just plain grumpy - like now. I blog. It's amazing how it shakes me out of it. Either that, or when it's really bad, I just make sure I get some time alone.
