i used to be proud...

... for being greek;
now i have to turn to history
and past achievements
to ease the feeling of disappointment.

It can be good to feel proud but I think we can all find times in the history of our country which we can be less than proud of. It's individuals who count and all the problems your country is facing are not your doing. Keep the faith I am sure things will turn around in due course.

Yiota, so much has happened in your country and it is disheartening to be sure. But I hope you will never stop being proud of your heritage, of who you are and where you have come from and that you continue to remind those around you and the rest of the world that there is still much to be proud of in your history, the people that you are and yes..the past achievements. This is a blip in the history of your country but not one that you and your country will be remembered for. Hold hope. xo

I do hope things will improve soon in your country. It will pass . . .

Like Marigold Jam said, every nation has its shining moments, and it's less-than-shining ones. Keep praying for a good resolution to the situation, and try to be hopeful! Pray for worthy leaders, too (there's always so much to pray for, sometimes it boggles my mind!), who can get your country out of this mess.

I am reminded of you every time I look at my desk/vanity - your crocheted placemat is there.

I am so sorry for the pain I can feel here.
