December 20th - grateful for ...

{ remembering this post from my archives }

(this frosty image is not a randomly picked one; it represents how I've been feeling lately and why reading what I wrote a year ago is something to be grateful for)

Peter Robbins (Charlie Brown): ... I think there must be something wrong with me Linus, Christmas is coming, but I'm not happy, I don't feel the way I'm supposed to feel ... just another dang Christmas I guess, I like getting presents, and sending Christmas cards, and decorating the tree and all that but I'm still not happy, I always end up getting depressed ...
Christopher Shea (Linus): ... Charlie brown, you're the only person I know who can take a wonderful gaping white Christmas and turn it into a problem, maybe you shouldn't gripe, of all the Charlie Browns in the world you are the Charlie Brownest ...

As much as I love Christmas Yiota I totally get where you are coming from. I think there is nothing like this season to highlight and accentuate any problems or heartache we may have. I find focusing on the parts I do like helps me and taking the biggest deep breathe before tackling the bits I find tough. I hope you can find joy in the little things this Christmas.

Well as you know that I am totally with you on this one. Love that photo it really does sum it all up for many of us doesn't it? I hope that you will have a peaceful and enjoyable Christmas even if like Charlie Brown you don't feel like you are "supposed "to!! I suspect that there are many more people who feel like this. Still have your letter here as it's still snowing but will post it in readiness for your return.

I'm sorry to hear that you're not feeling like "you're supposed to", Yiota. I think there are a lot of expectations for everything to be perfect at Christmastime. Unfortunately, real life doesn't always work the way it does in all of the movies and books that portray what it is "supposed to be." I hope you can find joy in your own way this Christmas. Know that I am thinking of you.
