weekend

friday evening ~
hubby and son have just left for hubby's village ~
I'll be joining them tomorrow morning
as I have an issue with driving at night
and we need both cars ~
wish me luck and patience for the weekend at my in-laws ~
son and I will be staying with my dad for a few days after that ~
no internet access at my dad's ~
'see' you at the end of next week.

Thursday 29 July 2010

just before I went to bed last night...

... I left these things on the coffee table,
and by doing this simple act,
I felt happy and content.
It's something I've done almost every evening lately (when I'm at home)
as hubby has been working late all month.
I seem to find comfort and cosiness in simple routines like this.
Another book always waits for me on my bedside table; this time a novel - always.
How about you?
What are your comfort routines or rituals?

on the map

see the green little car?
this is where we live.
now, how about the red one?
this is where I'll be working and living during the next school year.
little one and I will be around 450 km away from daddy.
I managed to get a temporary position in my area the past two school years
but now I need to go work where I was originally appointed;
I hope it's only for one school year.
we need to find a place to rent when I find out the exact location of work;
that's in a month or so.
I don't mind the change of scenery at all
(you may know this if you've read my previous post);
I only wish hubby could come along.
fingers crossed for regular, long visits.
I also hope I'll have access to the internet!
meanwhile, I'm trying to pile up some books in case there is no public library.

take care!

PS. thank you all for the supportive comments on my last post; it will be a life-long situation I'm afraid, that sometimes gets to me more than others - it depends on how well I manage to keep my distance.

turbulence

what can you do when the priceless peace and quiet
you struggle to have in your life and at your home
is threatened by something you're not responsible for
yet can hardly avoid?
~
what can you do when you were told never to show your face at a place again
- through no fault of your own let me tell you, other than being married to
and having a good relationship with a certain man -
and then being treated as if nothing had happened?
~
are you supposed to forget everything
and risk a possible attack out of the blue
-sometimes I feel a simple 'hello' could be misunderstood -
in order to keep the tranquillity you have worked so hard for?
~
are you supposed to put up with everything
and count the days and hours before you leave
and find shelter in your own family
(nuclear and extended)?

Cassie, my son's little hand picked your name for a little surprise in the mail.

tomorrow is my one-year-blogging anniversary;

randomness

Last month, Cassie tagged me with a couple of awards.
If you've read this, you know I'm not a huge fan of awards, although I don't mind them either.
Part of the award-posts is usually answering a few questions about yourself; and that's the fun part.
So, today I've decided to mingle things a bit - why can't I ever stick to the rules?- and think of some answers from each post.
Care to find out more about me?
All aboard...
~~~~~~
1. What books are you currently reading?
Marcia Willett - Second Time Around; good for lazy afternoons
2. What is your all time favourite film and why?
You've Got Mail : a sweet children's bookstore, a shabby chic apartment, lovely music, romance, beautiful photography, Tom Hanks.
3. What is the one place that you really want to visit that you haven't been to before?
Scotland, Scotland, Scotland,....
-any invitations from my friends out there? ;)
4. What is something fun and inspiring you have seen online lately and would like to share with us all?
See my 'love these' list on my sidebar.
5. What do you do when you're bored?
I read, blog, watch TV, crochet...
6. Are you an autumn or spring?
Mostly spring, but autumn is a close second; I get tired with summer(because of the heat) and I don't mind winter. (if there are teachers reading, they probably think the last part is irrelevant and unnecessary!!!)
7. Jane Austen or Emily Bronte?
Definitely Jane Austen.
8. What phrase has stuck with you in your life?
Carpe Diem (Seize the Day) from the film Dead Poets' Society.
~~
That's it with me. How about answering a couple of the questions in the comments section? Just write the number and your answer...
or just wave 'hello'.
the photos show some of 'my today' moments;
little one doing crafts while I sip coffee and read, watering the plants, a bit of baking... slow...
weekend part 2: at grandpa's
The 3rd and 5th photos are at my in-laws';
the rest are at my dad's.
We made a fortress with mud and stones but I forgot to take a picture.
I made sure we had 'building equipment' with us, wherever we went!
~~~~~~
Can you tell how much my dad loves fruit trees?
And we are so grateful for that:
fresh fruit + something to keep his body and mind busy.
