the shell seekers

The past few months, I've bought quite a lot of books.
I discovered that buying books online is far cheaper than buying from a bookstore here, plus, in this small village I am now, it doesn't take a whole morning of queueing at the post office to collect a parcel as it does in the city. Most of these books are already back home, where I took them last time I went there.
So, once again, I'm reading The Shell Seekers.
There's something about this book, that gives me enormous pleasure...
the setting, the characters, the flashbacks in time...
And although I've read it so many times, I never feel bored; I never skip a single page. I devour it!

What's one book you've read again and again and never get tired of it?

I remember reading my mum's copy of The Shell Seekers years ago and enjoying it. Though it's been such a long time, the story escapes me - perhaps it's high time I rediscovered it. Thanks for reminding me of its existence.

I've just picked up The Distant Hours by Kate Morton from the supermarket. I enjoyed her other two books, so thought I'd give this one a go. Though it's not had brilliant results.

A recent book love for me was The Other Boleyn Girl by Phillipa Gregory - I just couldn't put it down, even when it was past my bedtime.

For birdie: I hope you see this; it's the comment I've been trying to leave you for the past 15 minutes ...the solution: pop-up window

"A good book is always a good book, whether a novel or a non-fiction one. This one sounds really interesting. I read about the healing powers of spices in health magazines, but having it all in a book is great. I think, we don't use a lot of spices here.
PS. Thanks for all the comments you've left me lately.
By the way, have you thought of changing to a pop-up window for the comments. Blogger doesn't 'see'... well, bloggers like this, that's why I changed my comment layout."

Yiota! thank you for the reply and the advice! Now I'm such an antitalent when it comes to the PC ... a cave woman really ... so sorry if I sound 'stupid' but where do I change it in the blogger?? or you meant in the pc directly ... oh lol, laughing right now at my un-knowledge ... and how come that the other people manage to leave a comment in my posts? ... thank you!

Let's see ... there's Lord of the Rings, Shadow of the Wind, Fudoki, Ice Queen ... and more that get re-read on a regular basis. I have not actually read Shell Seekers though I know I gave you a copy.

Any of the Miss Read books and I often think that Village School or Village Diary are books I would take to a desert island with me as they evoke England for me and bring back my childhood too. I usually have several books on the go at any one time and cannot imagine how I would cope without the library! I have read the Shell Seekers several times too along with all the other Rosamund Pilcher books.

Oh, I loved The Shell Seekers too! Read it many times, years back... I should revisit that one. Anything Jane Austen I reread with pleasure, over & over, never tiring... :o) Happy Reading, Yiota ((HUGS))

Here I am again - I just began re-reading "Under the Tuscan Sun"; I think it's the fourth time with it. Not to mention listening to the audio, which is a whole 'nuther thing - Barbara Caruso's voice - ahhhh!

This book does something to/for me.
